And the TwOscar goes to ….

Every once in a while my curiosity gets the better of me. You know – like the spooked collegian who insists on going up the darkened stairs unarmed, wearing nothing but an oversized  t-shirt, tube socks and thong to investigate the thumping noises? Yeah … that never ends well.

Yesterday was a fine example (well, minus the thong ….).

“Somehow” (*she grins*) my followers and I ended up voting in an Oscar-weekend movie poll. Actually it’s all @JeremyCShipp ‘s fault. A tweet came through my twitter stream Friday afternoon from the aforementioned offender “what are your favorite five movies?” I answered and then couldn’t get the question out of my mind.

So last night Twitter, I asked. You answered. Oh, boy, did you answer! Dozens responded to the call. In the end the individual movies mentioned as favorites topped 240. A very diverse bunch of amazing films! Everything from Finding Nemo and Aladdin, to Jaws and Jurassic Park, to The Shining and Nightmare on Elm Street.

My eyes are still crossed from all the vote counting!!!!

(For the record, my original choices were: Night of Living Dead (orig.), Arsenic and Old Lace, Resident Evil, Edward Scissorhands and Galaxy Quest.)

Ah…I feel validated. Three out of my four picks made the cut, and…The Princess Bride, while not one of my top 5, I do consider to be both a must-see and I would vote it in as the most quotable movie ever.

  2. Corbin says:

Ha.. what’s funny about reading this is that I found myself saying out loud “Oh yeah! THAT one.. I should rend that again.” For all the movies listed!

    So, great list, great choices!

    I know right?!?!
That happened to me like 15 times. I was like “ohhhhhhhhhhh, THAT should have been on my list.”
Reminded me of a lots of great movies I love!
And, yay(!), two of my choices made the top five!
    LOL!

  4. Man, I missed the call for suggestions. Still, looks like none of my faves got any love (well, except for Princess Bride).

No Tarantino? Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction?

    The Matrix?

I can never turn off “Hunt for Red October” or “Crimson Tide”.

As for oldies, I can always watch Spencer Tracy and Frederick March spar in “Inherit the Wind”.

Personally, I love The Devil’s Advocate with Al Pacino. And a little known Tim Robbins movie called “Jacob’s Ladder” was great.

  5. Juliette says:

Devil’s Advocate is a great film! Nice addition!!

The Matrix did get votes – just not enough to get in the top five though ….
